Come May & it is all about fresh faces & sun-kissed cheeks! While every year the summer sun arrives with plenty skin-related issues, this time around there is increased screen time & perpetual stress in the bundle too, courtesy the pandemic & its implications! The current home confinement has left us with little choice for leisurely or break-away activities and as result of this, we are finding a new zest for self-care. The skincare rituals that we would usually line-up for the weekends, are now being done during the week as a means to unwind, unplug & relax for a moment. Keeping this changing sentiment in mind, we have combined our top summer skin recommendations with indulgent Ayurvedic DIY rituals that will not only revitalize your skin but will also help you de-stress & rejuvenate your senses.

Must Follow Summer Skincare Routine for Healthy Skin

Soothe: An Ice Facial With A Twist

When it comes to soothing the skin, fresh juices like that of Aloe Vera, Coconut, Watermelon and Cucumber have proven to be great topical treatments for the skin. These are enriched with essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids that give the skin a healthy glow.

Here is a refreshing DIY skin treatment that you can do at home with The Forest Essentials Aloe Vera Juice. Pour some of the juice into an ice tray & leave it to freeze. Once done, use these ice cubes to gently massage your face in circular motions. The cooling effect of the ice cubes works in tandem with the refreshing & hydrating properties of Aloe Vera to eliminate puffiness, also controls acne by tightening the pores & soothes any sunburn or heat rash. Do this after a long hot day or add it as a step in your nighttime skincare routine for best results.

De-tan: A Facial With Home Staples

When planning to remove tan, kitchen staples like Tomato and Lemon juice come in handy. These are natural astringents that suit all skin types and brighten the skin almost instantly. Here are some quick & easy masks you can whip up at home.

Squeeze out the juice from one half-cut Tomato & add 1 tsp of Lemon juice to it. To this add some Sandalwood powder and a few drops of the Forest Essentials Facial Tonic Mist Pure Rose Water, mix till you get a smooth paste. Apply a generous amount onto the skin & leave it on for about 10-15 minutes; once semi dry, rinse it off with cold water. While the Sandalwood & Rose Water infusions help nourish the skin, switching the lemon juice for honey is also a great idea & makes the mask befitting for dry & flaky skin.

Another great combination is mixing half a tsp of the Forest Essentials Ubtan- Multani Mitti with the Tomato and Lemon juice mixture. Apply the paste onto damp skin & massage in circular motions to cleanse. Rinse well with cold water once done. This de-tan mix is really effective for acne-prone & oily skin as it also deeply cleanses & tightens the pores.

Nourish: Buttermilk To The Rescue

While drinking Buttermilk is excellent for your body in the summer, it also has wonderful benefits for your skin. The lactic acid in Buttermilk makes for a great exfoliator and is perfect to beat the dehydrating summer heat. Here is another face mask that you can DIY in your kitchen featuring two simple ingredients. Mix a small amount of Orange peel powder with Buttermilk to make a paste. Apply it on the face and let it semi dry. Gently wash it off with lukewarm water & use regularly for blemish-free, supple skin through the summer season.

Refresh: A Spritz Of Sumptuous Florals

Made with natural floral waters, the Forest Essentials Facial Tonic Mists make for excellent refreshing spritzers for those hot, working days! A quick spray of these fragrant blends will give your senses an instant pick-me-up whilst leaving the skin smelling fresh for the day ahead. These mists can be calming for sensitive skin & are great for hydration as they work as moisture retainers

Another fun way of ingraining the mists into your on-the-desk beauty regimen is by making your own wet wipes by spritzing some on couple of facial tissues and using them as & when you wish to give your face a quick cleanse.

While these indulgent, at-home face rituals will leave you feeling invigorated & soothed, do not forget to be diligent with your SPF even when you are staying indoors. The skin-harming UVA rays do not get blocked by windows & the constant exposure to blue light from our screens & phones makes it imperative to wear sun protection even when inside. The Forest Essentials Sun Fluid is an excellent lightweight natural formula that is easy to apply & blends into your skin smoothly, leaving it lightly scented with a veil of SPF.

These were a few quick & easy summer self-care tips from us that will help get you through the worst of the summer heat with youthful and glowing skin.
