Multani Mitti – The Miraculous Beauty Clay

At a very early age, they are introduced to the power of natural ingredients. One of the most popular home remedies is Multani Mitti, an Indian name for Fuller’s Earth. The clay we know, has been used for centuries in India for treating several skin problems like blemishes, scars and acne.

What are the benefits of Multani Mitti?

Multani Mitti is rich alkaline soil containing minerals and volcanic ash. Its alkaline content corrects imbalances and neutralizes skin tone. A nature’s wonder for your skin, many are still unaware of the versatility of Multani Mitti. 

  • Due to its healing and soothing properties, it helps control excess oil production in the skin, thereby treating acne and pimples. 

  • Multani Mitti is very cooling in nature, and is therefore used to treat open pores, sun burns, rashes and inflamed skin. 

  • It deeply cleanses the pores, removes dirt and impurities, while stimulating the blood circulation and helping to clarify the skin for a clearer complexion. 

  • It gently exfoliates the skin and helps in removing blackheads and whiteheads.

How to Use Multani Mitti in your skincare routine?

1) Exfoliator & Cleanser:

Multani Mitti is a natural cleanser. Its deep-cleansing action unclogs pores, lifts excess oil and impurities and purifies the skin, leaving it clean, fresh and porcelain textured.

a) For cleansing mix half tablespoon of Multani Mitti with Fresh Yoghurt to make a creamy paste. Massage gently on damp skin and rinse off with water. As a cleanser, Multani Mitti can be used daily on the face and neck, specifically for excessively oily skin.

b) For exfoliation, mix one tablespoon of Multani Mitti and Fresh Yoghurt into a slightly coarse paste. Massage gently on damp skin. Allow it to dry for a minute. Rinse Off with water.

2) De-tan & Pigmentation:

Multani Mitti is known to be one of the best remedies to remove sun tan. It can be easily concocted into a DIY face pack to help lighten pigmentation and even the skin tone. It has a soothing effect on the inflamed skin, healing sun damage gently. 

a) Mix one tablespoon Multani Mitti with a teaspoon each of Tomato Juice, Lime Juice, Milk and Honey.

b) Apply it on your face and leave it on for 15 minutes before washing it off with cold water.

3) Anti- Acne

Rich in magnesium chloride, Multani Mitti helps reduce acne and remove blackheads.

a) Soak yoghurt and Multani Mitti for 20 minutes.

b) Mix and add Fresh Ground Mint Leaves and make into a paste.

c) Apply it on your face and leave it on for 15 minutes before washing it off with cold water.

4) Masque

Multani Mitti adds natural oils to your skin nourishing it from within & making it glow naturally.

a) Take two teaspoons of Multani Mitti. Mix it with Fresh Yogurt, Raw Honey , Aloe Vera Juice to make a fine textured paste.

b) Apply on damp skin. Let it semi dry up to 3 minutes. Spray Steam Distilled Rose Water on face mask. Massage with hands. Rinse Off with water.
